Marlene Rhonda Gevas Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Held close by her family, Marlene Rhonda Gevas, 65, passed away the morning of July 23rd, 2022, at her home in Irvine, CA, after a fearless battle with ovarian cancer. Born to Ellis Benjamin Carbullido and Maria Quintanilla Carbullido, Marlene began her journey on October 25, 1956, in the village of Agat on Guam, a small island in the Pacific. She came to the Bay Area at the age of 4, eventually settling in Benicia, where she spent the rest of her childhood and attended school. Here the seeds of her selfless nature would eventually blossom into the inspiring soul whose legacy will always remain. To Marlene, strangers were family she had yet to meet; a sister to many and a second mother to even more. Her love was an endless spring that washed over everyone, and as a lifelong devotee to her Christian faith, she knew the mountain she drew from was God. Later in life this devotion melded with a passion for travel as she toured her home country, state by state, teaching and learning from others with her husband of 46 years, Phil. Passionate about art in all forms, her creativity would manifest in a hand-drawn picture, a home-cooked meal, an eye for fashion or a bargain at a thrift shop. Above all else, she believed her greatest creation to be the family she had made. To Marlene, her children could fly, and in one conversation she would have the greatest skeptics convinced of the same. She was immeasurably proud of her grandchildren and likewise will be immeasurably missed by all. Marlene is survived by her husband, Joseph “Phil” Gevas; four children Jennifer (Tim) Gevas-Boyer, Joe (Ruth) Gevas, Jeorgia (Sal) Gevas-Aldana, and Jeana (Mariyah) Gevas; seven grandchildren Darius, Ezekiel, Joseph, Eliza, Exavier, Eva, Lydia and sister, Marcia (Bob) Bradley. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents Ellis Benjamin Carbullido (1995) and Maria Quintanilla Carbullido (2000); sister, Joanne Carbullido-Gabel (2011); and brother, Ellis Benjamin Carbullido, Jr (2019). Visitation will be held at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo, CA, on Friday, August 5th, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. A funeral service for Marlene will be held at Castlewood Baptist Church, 3615 Georgia Street, Vallejo, CA, on Saturday, August 6th, 2022 at 11AM; followed by a Graveside Burial at Skyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo, CA. A Celebration of Life Repast will then be held immediately following Marlene’s Burial at Castlewood Baptist Church, 3615 Georgia Street, Vallejo, CA. To Marlene - Even though we cannot see your face, we will see you always. Even though we cannot hear your voice, we will hear you always. Even though we cannot feel your touch, we will feel you always. And even if you’re not here to feel our love, we will love you always.
