Our family Patriarch Godofredo Ayson was called back to the Lord while sleeping in the early morning hours of March 2nd. He was born on Januray 11, 1917 in San Esteban, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He moved to Baguio City where he became a Superintendent of Schools with the Bureau of Education. When World War II broke out in the Philippines, he fought with the USAFFE under the US ARMY for the liberation of the Philippines. After the war he continued his work with the Bureau of Education in Baguio City and the Mountain Province Area. He came to the United States in 1994 as a US WWII Veteran and immediately became active in various Filipino Veterans Organizations as well as social organizations such as the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, San Esteban Circle and Filipino Senior Citizens groups. He enjoyed going on trips with family and friends, dancing and Casino bus trips, always with a smile on his face and generous to a fault. He was known to many as Lolo Pedong, Lolo Fred or just plain Lolo. He is survived by his son Edgardo Ayson of Marikina, Philippines, daughters Ligaya Recaen of Vallejo, CA, Delia Caldwell of Ontario, CA and Belen Tuazon of Toronto, Canada. He was preceeded in death by his wife Lourdes in 1972, son Richard (Sonny) in 2016 and daughter Janet in 2008. He is survived by 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. The viewing will be Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 12:00pm till 9:00pm, and the vigil will be 7:00pm till 8:00pm at SKyview Memorial Lawn, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo. Mass will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020, 11:00 an at St. Basil Church 1230 Nebraska Street, Vallejo.
