Rosita Garcia Cabel, lovingly known as Rose, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. She was 92 years old. Rose was born on August 16, 1933, in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte and eventually moved to the capital city of Manila. Upon immigrating to the States in 1989, Rose and her family made Vallejo, California their new home, building a life grounded in family, hard work, and love. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her family, especially in her time as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Restorative Aide at Heartwood Living Center in Vallejo. She was proud of her work and, throughout her 30 years of service, touched colleagues and patients alike with her kindness, patience, and homemade baon. Rose was a devoted Mamang and Mommy to her children: Roy Calvan (Priming) and Maryann Cabel (Greg), and to Victoria, Roderick (Geraldine), Joseph, and Michael (Roselle) Mojares. Though she was rooted in Vallejo, Rose’s family – and therefore her love – extended across North America and the Philippines. She is survived by her grandchildren: Venette (Junden) in Ilocos, Veny Boy (Theresa) in Canada, VJ (Casey), Venisse, and Harry (Keanna) in California, Tabby in Florida, and Derik and Abi in Texas, and great-grandchildren: Cheska in Hawaii, Pia, Eric, and Sam in Pasuquin, Kyana in California, and Amir, whom she walked to and from school each day. Rose was known for the care and attention she gave to those around her, from praying the rosary daily with her sisters, to two of her favorite hobbies: gardening and cooking. She had a special love for nurturing her backyard plants and vegetables, and her pinakbet and tabungaw, simple yet profound dishes, will be fondly remembered by all who tasted them. If not at home in her garden or kitchen, she could also be found at the casino, where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Venancio Cabel and Bartola Garcia Cabel, her siblings: Manuela Guerrero and Inocencio Cabel, and her partners Florante Calvan and Victor Mojares. She is survived by her beloved siblings: Florence Thompson, Lorenza Putong, Efren Cabel, Lydia Larsen, and Jhay Cabel. Rose was cherished by many family members, friends, and coworkers. Her life was a testament to dedication, love, and quiet strength. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Fly away and thank God for you, Mamang Rose.
